You might say that I ran out of gas and was forced to rest this week!  I’m happy to report that I’m feeling much better now and will be back in the class on Monday.  Thanks to Mrs. Barclay for keeping things going while I was away.

I was trying to think of all the places that I see number patterns everyday. This speedometer is an example of one of those places. There are several patterns happening in this photo. Think about other places where we see number patterns.

I am looking at another number pattern right now. It goes like this: 1, 4, 7  then the next part of it is 2, 5, 8 and the third part is 3, 6, 9. These patterns are on a thing that you all have in your homes. I wonder if you can guess what it is. Leave a comment if you can find it. If you think you know what it is, then look for more patterns on it.

Just for fun here is another pattern rule to figure out:  3, 5, 9, 17, 33, 65… (Hint: this is not an alternating pattern)

Going cross eyed is really cool. almost no one else can do it well. It dose have disadvantages though.

1. you get occasional urges to go cross eyed for long periods of time.

2. You can either focus on one thing close to you or one thiong farther away, but you can’t concentreate on more than thing at a time.

3. You can,t look at a bright screen for more than 5 minutes without you,re eyes will hurt or begin to water.

But I am still glad I can go cross eyed. It opens up a new world.

On Thursday I saw Ally’s hamster Gus. Gus is so so so cute!  His eyes are huge. If I had bought him I would have named him Buggzie. Gus is a bit gray and brown but he is mostly white. Gus is really active and Ally said he is more active at night. I think that is because he is nocturnal. Once Ally picked up Gus he had a piece of poo stuck in his butt. It was kind of funny but Ally put him down and waited until he pooed. That’s the end of my post. Bye.

I was reasearching the Trojan War ( The one with the great big wooden horse) and the book I was reading  had a reference to another book on prisoners and war. It was a bit more modern than the trojan war, but pretty old fashioned. It had a reference to a website. On that website, it told me about the prisoners dillema.

It refers to a case were two prisoners are being held in seperate cells. The police lack evidice for a major charge. Each prisoners get a choice to betray there friend or remain silent. If both remain silent, each of them recieves six months in jail. That is realatively light considering the other charges. If they both betray the other they each recive five years in jail. If one remians silent while the other betrays him, the person who remains silent reicives ten years in jail, while the other gets off scot free. I personaly would betray the other prisoner.

there is a really interesting theory, though. By following a norrowly self interested sratagy that minimimizes his own potentiol harm, each prisoner has an inishvitive  to betray the other, even though the best possible result would be if both stayed silent.
